Pumpkin Shaped BBQ Pork Appetizer Snack Sandwiches
Great for a Halloween Party or an Autumn gathering.
There's not a special recipe for this appetizer treat. I made French bread dough in a bread machine, adding orange foor coloring to give it a rich pumpkin orange color. Then shaped the dough into balls about 2" and lined them on a cookie sheet and flattened slightly. Then I let covered them with a dish towel and let rise in a warm place for 1-1/2 hours. After which I baked for about 15 minutes. Once cooled, I sliced off tops for lids, made a small hole in middle to poke in a piece of dill pickle for a stem. I removed the interior soft bread, stuffed with our favorite barbequed pork and served.
What a cute idea! I'm thinking I could do that with little dinner rolls and just tell my guests they're pumpkins. :) Or I could paint them orange with food coloring mixed with water.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try it!
I considered the painting dinner rolls with food coloring. I think that would work. I thought of all kinds of fillings I could do--chicken salad, tuna salad, anything that goes with bread would make a good filling.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! Easy to do. I agree any kind of filling would work.
