J is for Johnny Cakes

Welcome to my Food Recipe themed 2014 Blogging from A to Z Challenge

I have two things I just love, love, love to do, write books and cook. Stop by everyday to see my favorites recipes and a glimpse of one of my books.

J is for Johnny Cakes

Ingredients:

1 cup cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups boiling water
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1-1/2 cups buttermilk

In a large saucepan, combine cornmeal and salt. Pour in boiling water, stir constantly while cooking over medium-high heat until thick. Remove from the heat and stir in the butter and buttermilk. Drop heaping tablespoons of batter onto a lightly greased griddle over medium heat. Cook until the undersides are golden brown. Flip and cook other side until lightly browned. Serve warm.

The Witch Stone
by Brenda Williamson

Azrielle Marris, a young witch not fully in charge of her powers, goes out one night using the magic of astral projection, and lands into danger. After crashing into an attractive man, she soon finds herself in bed with a passionate lover. When he leaves, claiming they can never be together again, she's left heartbroken, and yet, hopeful that she can change his mind.

Bram Latimer is a witch of a coven in charge of Wicca law. While investigating the mysterious deaths of witches, he meets the woman meant to carry his seed. There's an unwritten rule against emotional involvement. However, not even Bram anticipated the intense connection, and he challenges the high council's orders to abandon the woman he loves.

In the end, Azrielle wins Bram's heart, and he proves rules can be broken, when he dies to protect all that he loves.
