Slowcooker (Crockpot) Hot Fudge Cake

Hot Fudge Cake

1 c. all-purpose flour

1/2 c. sugar (or Splenda)

2 Tlb. cocoa

2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 c. milk

2 Tbl. vegetable oil

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

3/4 c. brown sugar

1/4 c. cocoa

1-1/2 c. hot water



1. Spray or grease inside of crockpot.

2. Mix first 5 ingredients together in a bowl. 3. Add in next 3 ingredients. (And nuts)

4. Spread batter evenly in bottom of 5 qt. slowercooker (crockpot).

5. Mix in seperate bowl, brown sugar & 1/4 c. cocoa, then add hot water, stirring until smooth. Then pour on top of batter.

6. Cover cooker and cook on high 2 to 2-1/2 hrs (until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean)

7. Turn off cooker, leave lid off, and let sit 45 min to cool.

8. Spoon warm cake into bowls and spoon sauce over top.



Goes great with a scoop of ice cream.

  4. 5 qt is the size I use, of course, I noticed the older ones are taller and narrower than the newer ones. You might want to check with the toothpick sooner if you think yours might be shorter and wider.

    Baking in a crockpot is sometimes a trial by error.

    I have successfully doubled the recipe in a 6 qt. The biggest part it just not cooking beyond when the cake tests done.

  6. I went ahead and made this today and have added a photo. As you can see, I put my nuts (Almonds) on last, that way everyone can add whatever kind they like best.

    I also used splenda, this time. It didn't seem to change the texture or taste.
