A Conversation Between Writers ~ Brain Games

Have you tried doing mturk.com. It's owned by Amazon. My son does it for fun. The pay starts out small (pennies) but as you built up the amount of jobs you take, the pay increases. He did a 2 minute job for .86 cents. You'd have to read the instructions to understand the system, but there's money to be had there for an ambitious person. ~ Brenda Williamson

~

I never heard of it before so I went and looked. It sounds more like a fun personal challenge than serious money but I can see where signing up and filling in the odd moments while at the day job would be beneficial to my state of mind. It would be better than playing Freecell or Mahjong. I should set up the account and tell Himself to have at it. :) ~ KC Kendricks

A Conversation Between Writers ~ What Did I Forget?

I used to laugh at my mother and grandmother for forgetting things but it's not amusing. Nor is it amusing my calendar didn't send me the alert on it.

Today I decided I needed a break from caffeine and I can barely keep my eyes open. Someone is going to stroll in here and find me snoring. ~ KC Kendricks

~

Everyday I too seem to forget to do something. Nothing important, but it gets so annoying. And it's not like I totally forget, it's more like the thought gets pushed to the back of my brain and jumps forward every so often so I remember it at an in opportune time. ~ Brenda Williamson

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Who Has Fleas?

I'm working hard today. I had a big shipment come in yesterday, so today is see how much I can get listed. I need some $$$. I want to go to the fleamarket this weekend and I won't go unless I have some cash. I'm not into browsing. ~ Brenda Williamson

~

I haven't been to a real flea market in ages. Mostly because I don't have any money either :(.  I blew my wad of cash on the John Deere. ~ KC Kendricks

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Different Connections

I didn't bowl a 300 but I did pretty good. 199-166-192. Don't know what happened that second game. Must have been that freaking 10 pin that scared the crap out of my ball so bad the ball wouldn't hit it. ~ KCKendricks

~

Haven't done any writing in a while. Signed up for ancestry.com again (6 mo) and so I've been researching family records again. Progressed quite far. It's terrific the way so many people connect. ~ BrendaWilliamson

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Donut Holes & Bowling Balls

Got no writing done today--wore myself out hunting for granny smith apple trees. Went a dozen places, found one. I tore out my other fruit trees close by the house as they were making too much of a mess. Now starting a new orchard by the barn. Only going to have apples. Peaches, cherries and other such trees never did well here.

Also stopped at Dunkin Donuts, told the guy I wanted two dozen, then thought about it and told him one more dozen. It's so far from home and they freeze well. By the time my son and I got home, we had polished off a half dozen. Not as quickly as you'd think--we were out for four hours.  ~ BrendaWilliamson

 ~

We're quite found of doughnuts, too, or at least we used to be. The place to get doughnuts in this town is Krumpe's. It's a little hole in the wall down an alley but they built up a great business. Trouble is they deep fry the doughnuts and the last couple of times I could taste the grease. Very disappointing. I want to make my own. Ina Garten did baked doughnuts on her tv show. I'd like to give that recipe a try. Before you think, 'ack! baked!' the recipe uses over a stick of butter. What's not to like about any recipe that uses a stick of butter? Didn't we just talk about dieting and now we're talking doughnuts? Now I need to go buy a doughnut pan.

PS. Bowled good Friday night. Had a 248 game. Yea, me!!!! ~ KC Kendricks

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Diet Fixes

Diet - what’s that? Someone gave us another Bob Evans gift card. We need to set some folks straight. If they’re going to give us gift cards, make it for the Longhorn Steakhouse. Actually, we had a grilled chicken cut into strips on a salad last night with a homemade vinaigrette so that was pretty low fat. ~ KC Kendricks
 ~

I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Bob Evans, but I buy his Mac-n-cheese at the grocery store. Grilled chicken on salad sounds good. I like to use Greek dressing a lot, especially on diced tomatoes and cucumbers. ~ Brenda Williamson

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Open Wide, Bite Down

I have a toothache for the last five days, so I didn't make it past watching sleepy hollow last night. This morning I go to the dentist and find a miracle cure. ~ Brenda Williamson

~

I went to the dentist for what I thought was the last small thing that needed done. Aye. Right. She started looking at an old silver filling and said she thought it was cracked, too. So she took an x-ray and it wasn't cracked. There was decay under the old filling. So she fixed the little one and then dug out the old silver and put in the white composite. Now that's all fine with me but dang it. My upper lip is so numb I can't drink from a water bottle without dripping and drooling like a 1-year old. ~ KC Kendricks

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Penny Pinchers

Peace and quiet and routine can be blissful. We got up early and went to Wal-Mart for a pantry run. I doubled up on everything we need to the tune of $217. I've been using that Wal-mart Savings Catcher app on my phone. The last trip it generated a coupon for $8.72. Good deal! ~ KCKendricks

~

I put the app on my phone too. I've never gotten that much of a savings at once. But the few cents I get here and there add up. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but it really takes no time at all. ~ Brenda Williamson

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Cover Obsessions

Spanking the Goddess is the last short I have. Everything else falls in the category of 20k or larger. Mostly larger, so you shouldn't get another from me in a while. Now you need to catch up. Here's the cover. Maybe tonight I'll have finished reading the story. This afternoon I'm off to a baseball game. ~ Brenda Williamson

~

 OMG. You have a bare ASS on your cover. You trollop LOL!!!!  ~ KC Kendricks

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Tread Lightly

We purchased a treadmill and set it up this morning. Now I have no excuse not to get off my butt. We put it downstairs in the den in front of the TV. That should be a help. I can watch cooking shows while I walk. I read yet another article on the benefits of vitamin D-3 to metabolism, so I got a bottle at Sam's Club. See if that gives me extra energy. ~ KC Kendricks

~

I have a treadmill, a stepper, a bike, a weight bench and a half dozen other contraptions I don't use. I even have a Hawaiian Chair. I saw it on TV and had to have one. But gives me a stomach ache. ~ Brenda Williamson

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Let it Roll!

I finished writing that book I told you about. Now I'm free.... free to go to Biloxi, MS to gamble the middle of next month and squander money I should spend elsewhere. ~ Brenda Williamson

~

Gambling is good! I won $2 on the Powerball and said "let it roll..." I hope you hit big :) ~ KC Kendricks

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Can't Waste Steak

Went to the meat market today to do some freezer stocking so I got two NY strips while I was there. The first thing Ron did was trip and drop them on the patio concrete. I scrubbed them and I bet they'll taste like dish soap, but we figured grill and see. How’s life?  ~ KC Kendricks

~

Yum, steak off the ground. I've washed plenty of things off that I've dropped. Doing good, busy as hell. Still working on twenty projects at once. Had a yard sale this past Saturday, made $200 and then went and bought groceries. Needless to say the store got all my money. ~ Brenda Williamson

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Going Indie

Okay...so I decided...I'm going to format my m/m story for Kindle. No backing out. I spent all morning playing with photos trying to decide on a simple, easy cover. Of course nothing is simple and certainly not cheap. But the cover is the first thing they see, then the title, then the blurb, and then they buy and are stuck with everything inside :-) I had almost decided on a mountain scene and then I saw this guy's face and thought - yum. So I bought a handsome man...well at least the right to use his face. Now if that isn't commitment I don't know what is

Now I HAVE to get the story ready.  ~ Brenda Williamson

~

That is a really good cover. It's simple and it's HOT. And where exactly did you find that guy? Are you going to try and get some of your self-pubbed into print, too. Indie publishing, here I come.  ~ KC Kendricks

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Another Cover Story

I think orange with a brown-ish undertone always works. I, too, am very tired of blue on my covers but I'm just the author. I'm glad I'm learning the self-pubbing because I really think it's going to be more and more important in the future. ~ KC Kendricks

~

I didn't know orange was hot, but I was happy to see it wasn't blue or red, I have too many of those already. The cover is okay. Part naked man usually works. ~ Brenda Williamson

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Writers Gotta Eat

Today I diet. Going good so far. For breakfast I ate two scrambled eggs & drank 6oz of V8. Then I sat down to write. When I looked at the clock it was 1:30. Yay, I'm writing again! Took break to pack up jewels for shipping and eat lunch and check email. Now I'll go write some more. Actually, trying to read through the rest of this story to see how it ends before I write more into it and find I have a bunch of facts to fix. ~ Brenda Williamson

~

Diet... I did so/so today. We went to Bob Evans instead of cooking. I got the Wildfire Chicken salad so I DID have green stuff. It could have been worse. Far, far worse....  ~ KC Kendricks

A Conversation Between Writers - Furballs

We might actually see the sun today. I think I'll go dance naked in the backyard if we do.
Heading into the home stretch on the one WIP. I might get that finished this weekend, too.  It’s really different not having to vacuum furballs every night. But I would gladly do it to have Jett back. Now I must go c-c-cook a dinner. ~ KC Kendricks

~

I haven't done any writing in weeks. I'm still devoting all my time to remodeling. You think a Lab sheds a lot, get a Pomeranian. His name is Baron Frankenstein (got him for Damien one Halloween six or seven years ago. The tumbleweed-like hair balls rolling around the house we call baby Barons. When I sweep them up there's enough hair to make another dog. ~ Brenda Williamson

A Conversation Between Writers ~ We Do So Work!

We've got a drizzling rain here this morning so Himself wants to torch the brush pile. Good day for it so we're heading outside. We'll get the fire going then sit in the pickup, drink coffee, and watch it burn. Then I'll say I worked hard today LOL!! ~ KC Kendricks

~

I like bonfires and sitting and roasting marshmallows. But I have to wait until my brother does the brush pile. I don't play with fire and I try not to play with work.  ~ BrendaWilliamson

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Take Two Aspirin

Damien now has cold. Yesterday was his day off and we spent it watching TV. Well me watching and fetching his snacks while he napped ---A LOT. ~ Brenda Williamson

~

We're both hacking and coughing. I think it's the dog and cat shedding and the general poor air quality in the house because of it. It was 60F degrees this afternoon and I cracked open a couple of windows to let some fresh air in and Ron huffed and puffed. I turned my back and he shut 'em so when he went into the bathroom I opened different ones. They're still cracked open. The heat pump is just outside my office window and when it cycles on for the first time this evening, I'll close them.  ~ KC Kendricks

A Conversation Between Writers ~ To bike and to garden

We were going biking this morning. Then it was cloudy and we thought we'd better not. Then the sun came out so we said okay let's go. Got the bikes loaded and the sun went away. So we thought maybe we'd better go to the C&O tow path since it's closer. So we got in the pickup and headed down the road. Got about four miles, and raindrops hit the windshield. We turned around and came home. Now the sky is blue and sun is shining but we're not trying it again today.
With any luck I'll get the second chapter of the story finished. Did 500 already so it could actually happen :) KC Kendricks

How energetic of you. I haven’t ridden a bike in a long time. I dealt with a garden today. Got a love/hate going with mine. All the work should have a good pay off, but sometimes is it worth it. The amount of time it sucks up makes me wish I could just lounge on the sidelines and watch someone else pick the weeds. ~ Brenda Williamson

A Conversation Between Writers ~ Gimme a cookie and do it now!

I'm in a baking mood. Diet is by the wayside. Yesterday I made oodles of cookies. (Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chunk & Snickerdoodles) This morning at 4:30 am I started on Sugar cookies and Gingerbread Men. I'm also making Nutty Sweet Potato Biscuits and Pigs in a Blanket. Stocking up freezer. Maybe some ready-made nibbles will make me more incline to stay at the computer and write. ~ Brenda Williamson

~~~~~
Cookies! I love cookies! But cookies are evil. All that butter. All that glorious brown sugar.
I DON'T CARE!!   I baked two batches of sugar cookies last Sunday. One batch was plain but the other got some lemon zest and some finely chopped rosemary. (Very finely chopped, too.) Even Himself likes those. I want to make some oatmeal raisin but I want to soak the raisin's in bourbon first. I know. I'm a lush.  It's strange but two homemade cookies satisfies me better than six store bought cookies. Ergo, homemade is best.  ~ KC Kendricks
