Kissing The "Blarney" Stone Brings Good Luck
The group arrived at the site of the famous Blarney Stone. "Good luck will be followin' ya all your days if you kiss the Blarney Stone," the guide said. "Unfortunately, it's being cleaned today and so no one will be able to kiss it. Perhaps we can come back tomorrow."
"We can't be here tomorrow," the nasty woman shouted. "We have some other boring tour to go on. So I guess we can't kiss the stupid stone."
"Well now," the guide replied, "it is said that if you kiss someone who has kissed the stone, you'll have the same good fortune."
"And I suppose you've kissed the stone," the woman scoffed.
"No, ma'am," the frustrated guide said, "but I've sat on it."
* The Blarney Stone is actually a block of bluestone built into the battlements of Blarney Castle in Ireland.
Are You Still Stuffed?
The day after, and I'm still stuffed from all the food I ate. My family isn't so large since we're spread out around the country. But my brother's wife's family makes up for it. His house is filled every Christmas with dozens of family and friends, each bringing in something yummy to eat. This year was no different, and I always have to sample everything. Yet even a nibble of this and a taste of that can be overwhelming. Why on Earth do we eat on holiday's until we're uncomfortable in our clothes? Must be the why we choose Jan 1st each year to diet ;-)
